seal/pigment/enzyme question!!!!!!?
the fur color of the adult northern seal, created by a dark brown pigment, is due to a specific enzyme. suggest reasons why baby seals are born with a pure whit coat.
Because of the cold climate that most seals live in, the enzymes in their bodies are used to cold temperatures. The warm temperatures inside the mother, denature the enzymes that make the pigment. Once the baby is born, it creates more enzymes that act like they should because of the colder temperatures outside.
