How do I use a baitcaster?
I got a Daiwa Samurai baitcaster rod and reel for Christmas. I fish all the time, but have Never Used a baitcaster. Apparently I have to set it up to prevent backlash? What does this mean? I know it has something to do with the knob attached to the spool, but what am I supposed to do with it?
Just remember when you cast that you have to keep your thumb on the spool.Use it to slow it down and stop the spool momentarily when your bait hits the water. Practice and you'll get it. The knob on the side adjusts tension to the spool so it spins faster or slower depending on the weight of your bait or lure.
